Semrush is the most frequent comparison and the least precise one, because they aren't the same product. Semrush is an SEO suite that added AI visibility metrics to its four tiers: SEO $139, Starter $199, Pro+ $299 and Advanced $549 a month at list price. It shows up in 285 of our 640 daily runs of non-brand questions, more than any direct competitor: models still answer “AEO tools” with the classic SEO stack.
| Criterion | SearchBrand | Semrush |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | AI answer monitoring | SEO suite with AI metrics included |
| Price | Pro US$247/mo + VAT | From $139/mo (SEO tier) |
| Keywords, backlinks, technical audit | No | Yes, that's their strength |
| Daily runs per question and model | Yes | No public prompt figure disclosed |
| Competitor content analysis inside the answer | Yes | Partial |
| Latin American Spanish | Native | Multi-language interface |
| Billing in CLP | Yes | No |
When to stay with Semrush and nothing else. If your work is still mostly classic SEO — keywords, links, technical audits — and you want a coarse AI signal in the same dashboard, you don't need two tools. It's a defensible decision and plenty of people make it.
When that isn't enough. When you need to know what position you appear in inside the answer, with what sentiment, and which sources the model cited to say it. That's the difference between knowing you exist in AI and knowing why. The two dashboards can't be mixed: our own question-shaped queries rank at a median position of 9.4 and produce 5 clicks on 49,528 impressions. On an SEO dashboard that looks like a huge opportunity; in reality it's visibility without traffic, and it has to be measured with a different yardstick.
Do I need both? If you do SEO and AEO seriously, yes — and that isn't a comfortable answer for us. Semrush covers what we don't do: keywords, backlinks, technical audits.
